CatchmentSIM Help

The 3D Visualisation submenu allows the DEM and vector layers to be viewed in 3D. This form has the following controls.

3DVisualization

The 3D Visualisation engine is tightly integrated within CatchmentSIM's graphic engine and it can be viewed in tandem with the normal 2D plan view during normal operations. For example, the Draw Pixel Flow Path operation can be seen to render on both the 2D and 3D views simultaneously. The 3D display settings are the same as those set for the 2D map and may be edited in the View Attributes form.

The mouse can be used to manipulate the current view. The left mouse button is used to rotate the 3D view and the right mouse button is used to zoom in or out by dragging in a left or right direction.

Live changes (those that can be enabled without redraw) include the ability to raise the vertical bias of the drawing, raise vector layers over the raster layers (to ovoid being cut off), increase the widths of vector layers (as defined in the View Attributes form, manually rotate or zoom. Changes requiring redraw include changing mesh resolution, changing the mesh display from rectangles to triangles and draping lines (inserting new vertices to drape lines over the DEM).
