Grunt software issues

Hi,
We have been using TRIM Grunt software for a couple of weeks now, and have the following issues:

1. Often when you terminate a run, it terminates another run higher up the list;
2. Grunts tab shows 4 models running, but TRIM only running 3. We have found that you can manipulate the grunts and simultaneous runs to 5, and then the 4th model will start.

Has anyone else had these issues, and is there a solution?

Regards,
Francis

    Hi Fancis,

Can you confirm you are running the latest version of both TRIM (2.6.0) and your grunts (1.0.3)?

    Hi Chris,
    TRIM is version 2.6.0.
    Grunt Software is 1.0.0

Did the 1.0.3 version of Grunt fix these issues?

    Hi Chris,
We have installed the latest Grunt software (1.0.3), and are still having the same issues.
One particular machine is detected as already running 5 models, when in fact there were none running on any machine, Had to up the simulations available to 6 for a run to start on that machine.

    Hi Francis,

The Grunt tries to work out how many TUFLOW models might already be running on the computer even if they are not being managed by TRIM. For example, if that computer had a 4 local dongle but was already running 2 simulations, it would then only allow TRIM to start 2 more simulations on that Grunt even though your Max Sims might be 4. I hope this makes sense.

Unfortunately, it can get confused. It works by looking for the word 'TUFLOW' in the Window captions. As such, if you have other windows open with TUFLOW in the name, the Grunt may mistake them for running simulations. Examples may include Windows Explorer open with a path that includes TUFLOW or a Word document open that includes the word TUFLOW in the title. If you close down any windows that might confuse it, hopefully it will get the running simulations count correct.

Grunts work best on dedicated modelling computers with few or no other applications running.

Please let me know if this helps.

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Hi Chris,
Would it be possible for the grunt to only look for "TUFLOW" in a command window running? It would allow the user to have a word doc such as the TUFLOW manual open without affecting the grunt.
Our grunt computers are required for tasks other than modelling.

    Hi Francis,

We could include an option to skip the part where we count external TUFLOW models. That should work for you as long as you don't run models outside TRIM Grunts on the same computer. I will put it on the list.

    Cheers,
    Chris
